What is the difference between UV ink and ordinary ink

September 20th at 11:46am

1. Fast drying speed
UV ink: During the printing process, it can be immediately dried by UV lamp irradiation, greatly reducing the drying time. Usually, UV ink can be completely dried and cured in just 1/10 to a few seconds under UV light irradiation, which is beneficial for improving production efficiency and saving time
Ordinary ink: requires a certain amount of time for drying, usually achieved through solvent evaporation, which is a relatively long process.

2. Environmental friendliness
UV ink: does not contain volatile organic solvents (VOCs), so it will not cause harm to the environment and the health of workers. The curing process of UV ink produces almost no harmful emissions, meets environmental requirements, and is internationally acclaimed as a "green industrial new technology for the 21st century"
Ordinary ink: usually contains high volatile organic solvents, which will evaporate into the air during the drying process, causing pollution to the environment and potentially having adverse effects on the health of the operators.

3. Printing effect
UV ink: It has better printing effect and printability, and can meet high-precision printing requirements. The ink layer of UV ink is strong, fast drying, and cross-linked, making printed materials have higher abrasion resistance and chemical resistance, suitable for outer packaging printing that requires abrasion resistance. In addition, UV ink has bright colors, high brightness, high dot clarity, good tone reproducibility, bright ink color, and strong adhesion
Ordinary ink: Due to different drying methods, it is easy to encounter problems such as clogging and incomplete color, which affect the printing effect.

4. Strong weather resistance
UV ink: It has good weather resistance and can be used outdoors, with a wider range of applications. The ink film formed by UV ink curing is resistant to water, alcohol, alcohol, wear, and aging, and has many excellent physical and chemical properties
Ordinary ink: When used outdoors, it is easily affected by weather and may become lighter or peel off.

5. Improve production efficiency
UV ink: Due to its fast drying speed, it can save printing time and improve production efficiency. At the same time, UV ink will not block the screen, which is beneficial for printing fine products
Ordinary ink: may require more time and manpower investment during the drying and printing process.

6. Printing adaptability and wide printing range
UV ink: It can meet the needs of various substrates and has a wide range, such as paper printing, plastic printing, metal surface printing, etc. In terms of printing methods, UV ink can be applied to various printing methods such as letterpress, gravure, screen printing, and offset printing (source: Weibo platform).
Ordinary ink: Its adaptability in terms of substrate range and printing method is relatively limited.
